amd_logoThe annual meeting with financial analysts, held by AMD, turned into a wave of apologies from the company's representatives to experts from Wall Street. AMG said sorry for the mistakes that occurred this year. The company stated that in 2008 it would get in full shape by launching its renewed version of Barcelona quad-core line, the functionality of which is seriously crippled due to its design flaw.

The executives of the chipmaker were very sorry for the opportunities that the company missed thus disappointing its loyal clientele. This especially refers to customers who for a long time have waited for AMD first "native" quad-core processors.

Despite the company's downturn this year it is proud to announce that it shiped "tens of thousands of quad-core units in the third quarter, hundreds of thousands of quad-core processors in the fourth quarter and at least twice the fourth-quarter amount in the first quarter of 2008". This data was provided by Computing Products Group's executive vice president, Mario Rivas.

The reported data shows that a 3 to 1 ration has been in sales for the company's Phenom to Barcelona chips. Although the shipment "defective" Barcelonas continues through channels for particular customers, those processors that are fixed will arrive in 2008 and AMD hope they would reach sales maximum before the next year's first quarter.

"We blew it, and we're very humbled by it, and we're going to learn from it, and we're not going to do it again," honestly stated the chairman of AMD. It is worth mentioning that after the chipmaker acquired ATI it began bleeding money.

In fact, the real downslide came after AMD failed to issue its Barcelona and Phenom products in time so to be able to compete with Core 2 Quad products developed by Intel. Bob Rivet, chief financial officer, mentioned that this year was a bad one for business. He stated that AMD's cash flow was "totally unacceptable".
