Al Gore to Join Green Tech Supporting Firm

It is worth mentioning that the firm has a history of supporting "green technology".

 

The environmental activist, Al Gore, looks forward to become a member of the board of Kleiner, Perkins, Caulfield and Byers.

 

Among his future tasks there will be: managing the investments meant for alternative energy resources and leading firms that are involved in such fields as: recycling, alternative fuel and the purification of water.

 

It's worth noting that Mr. Gore is the received an Oscar for his documentary film entitled "An Inconvenient Truth". This documentary explained the dangerous consequences of the forthcoming global worming and the enormous impact of it on our planet.

 

Mr. Gore's investment fund, called Generation Investment Management (GIM), is already under way to actively support energy technology solutions.

 

The investment fund is creating a partnership with Kleiner in order to discover and provide funding to businesses that have the "greatest potential" regarding combating the threat of climate change.

 

Al Gore will focus on supporting those businesses who concentrate their forces on reducing carbon dioxide emissions.

 

"We have a working understanding of this urgent, multi-dimensional challenge and are resolved to help business and government leaders accelerate the development of sustainable solutions," he outlined.

 

Founded in 1972, Kleiner looks forward to provide, by 2009, about 1/3 of its funding towards clean technology.

 

John Doerr is one of the leading persons at Kleiner. He has built his reputation by investing in some of the most successful tech companies in the United States. These include Amazon and Google. Al Gore and John Doerr have known each other for a long time and now they will work together to help businesses in their reach towards a greener environment.

 

Mr. Gore will contribute his payment from Kleiner to the Alliance of Climate Protection, which is an environmental foundation which Al Gore chairs.
