China and India Registered Huge Growth in Mobile Service Industry

cell_phone_china.jpgStatistics for the last year show that Chinese users of mobile phones sent about 429 billion text messages. At the same time India registered an enormous growth of mobile service subscribers. Both countries joined the group of the two fastest growing countries if the field, Brazil and Russia.

 

According to Ofcom, the watchdog of Britain's media and telecommunication, growth of the telecommunication sector was due to the continuous increase of mobile phone use, currently accounting 53 percent of telecom's total revenue.

 

cell_phone_indiaThere were about 150 million subscribers to the mobile service in India during 2006, which is more than twice of all British subscribers (70 million).

 

The growing potential of mobile service in India is enormous. Despite the significant increase in the number of subscribers there is still only 14 percent of population benefiting from the service.

 

The text messages sent in China outran any other country. In average a user in China sent 967 messages in 2006.

 

The upper stated results represent a part of the Ofcom International Communications Report, which, in order to analyze the increasing trends, took into consideration $1,787 billion global television, as well as radio and telecommunication field in 2006.

 

According to the report the highest take-up of digital television as well as the highest digital radio coverage had Britain. Ofcom analyzed 12 countries, including: Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Republic of Ireland, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Japan, Canada and the United States.

 

The company also considered the results registered in Brazil, Russia, India and China, due to their different levels of development.

 

It is worth mentioning that in the television sector the majority of people watching TV were registered in Japan and US. The latter was the leader in high definition TV take-up.

 

The French were leaders in using the Internet-based TV or IPTV, registering 1.5 million subscribers.
