Human Rights to be the Main Discussion on RU-Russian Summit

It is worth mentioning that current summit will be the last one that Vladimir Putin, will attend as the president of Russian Federation.

 

Russia supplies one third of all energy needs exported to the European Union and after two consecutive winters of gas supplies disruptions, the summit will look forward to analyze questions regarding the safety of gas exports from Russia. Thus the EU hopes to avoid further crises and welcome a deal regarding an early warning system.

 

Among the leaders of the European Union there is certain improved confidence, which comes after the conclusion regarding a new reform treaty and the crush of the nationalist government in Poland after the elections. It is worth noting that the nationalist government served as the main reason to block talks linked to a new agreement if great important with Moscow.

 

The main discussion on the summit is supposed to touch the subject of human rights and democracy. Note that this will take place just before the parliamentary and presidential pools in Russian Federation.

 

Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International advised the EU leaders to provide a firm conversation regarding the human right. The two groups call this subject Kremlin's worsening human rights record.

 

The Prime Minister of Portugal, Jose Socrates previously mentioned that he is not going to lecture Russia, which is why Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International will be closely watching him.
