$10 Million Queller Family Collection to be Offered at Central States

In the period of April 16-19, 2008 Heritage Auction Galleries will host an auction featuring The Queller Family Collection of United States Silver Dollars, 1794-1935, which was gathered by Davind Queller. One of the most notable items on the auction will be the famous 1804 Bust dollar. The CSNS convention, which will be held in Rosemont (Illinois), is the place where Heritage Auction Galleries will be presenting Signature and Platinum Night sessions of coins and Currency.

goldThis week the United States gold futures registered a record high slightly below $900 an ounce as funds discharged money after Ben Bernanke, the Chairman of the Federal Reserve, stated about speculation of the further rate cuts and slide of the dollar.

 

"The rate cut (speculation) has been driving the gold market through its impact on the dollar. I expect more of the same going forward," outlined Thomas Winmill, portfolio manager of Midas Fund in New York, an institution that oversees $265 million of assets under management.

A collection of extremely rare Roman coins were discovered in Bath. The exact location would be the site of a city centre hotel. Archaeologists so far have been able to find around 150 Roman coins during the works on the new Gainsborough Hotel and Thermal Spa.

 

Rare Saginaw Banknotes Dating 1837 Uncovered

saginaw_1837_bank_notesMark Berg was able to discover the first three $10 notes dated 1837 and launched by the Saginaw City Bank. The three banknotes feature serial numbers 1, 2 and 3. All of the ten dollar notes are in perfect condition.

Back in 1836 Saginaw City's founder, Norman Little, was the president of the bank and signed these banknotes Dec. 26, 1837, which is exactly 170 years ago.
